Question
Hi Karin,

Many thanks for your excellent recent answer. If I've not rated and thanked, it's because the computer wouldn't let me – obviously some sort of site malfunction.

A bit of TROLLKARLENS HATT:
Han (Hemulen) brukar aldrig ge sig av långt, sa Snorkfröken.

Please, what is ge sig? Give oneself doesn't seem to fit.

Cheers,

Simon

Answer
Hi Simon,

The whole expression is "ge sig av", with the stress on the word AV, meaning to leave, be off.

It's been snowing heavily for two days here, causing great problems for cars, trains and buses. Do I have to tell you that I HATE THIS?

Kram,

Karin
