Subject: Spa Light Wiring
Question Hi,
I am rebuilding an old spa. My problem is with the light. The old system was an air button system with all parts plugging into a control box with standard wire (black, white, green). My new system is digital. The only old part I kept was the light fixture. No name, this is a closed housing (transformer?) with the standard plug as I mentioned at one end and at the other is two black wires that attach to socket where bulb is inserted. OK. What I received with my new system is replacement bulb, and the two black wires with attached plug. I wired the black wires with plug to the original cord using the black and white wires ignoring the ground (12V). It does not work. I am confused about the need for the transformer. Can I just wire the black wires with the socket, to the black wires with the plug? Everything else is working beautifully. Any info would be appreciated.
Thank You
Pamela
Answer If I understand you,The bulb is 12 volts, you need the old transformer to reduce the line voltage from 120 to 12.Unless you got a new transformer. The line voltage would be 120 v. and the load would be the light.[12 v.]What type of switch are you using?Lynn
