Subject: main drain and bottom ground drain
Question Hopefuly this falls into your area of expertise. I think it's maintenance.
New home and inground pool owners. Just painted and are in the process of refilling pool to close before frost as we are in the snowbelt.
1)Where would I find the "main drain"?
I know where the skimmers are. There is also a ground drain? at the bottom of the pool that allows ground pressure release. This is an assumption on my part as while we had emptied to paint, ground water came in through the bottom drain.
And 2) speaking of the ground drain, there is not any type of cover or guard over it. Should it have one and, if so, what is the technical name for it as I have not had any luck finding one via the online pool equipment stores.
Thank you in advance for your response and any help you may be able to provide.
Answer The main drain would be in the center in the deep end if you have one.It could be a hydrostatic relief valve or combination type.A relief valve releases air that becomes present as you remove water and pressure from the bottom of pool, ground water becomes present and needs to be released so as not to cause damage to the liner. No guard is necessary.Lynn
