Subject: green pool water

Question
i have a 1,800 gal pool, just got it up and running and my water is green. tested chemicals, ok- no change in water color-took a sample to local pool company. they tested too much iron. what can i use to clear this up?

Answer
Large amounts of metals[iron, copper]can cause water to turn a green/blue color. They make a metal remover.Be sure to follow directions, chlorine must be near 0.Unless your actually putting a metal[I once had copper in a pool that kept comming back, found out the underlayment of the roof was copper] it can be a characteristic of the water.Lynn
