Subject: pool/spa jet sucking in rather than blowing out

Question
I have an inground swimming pool and spa.  One of the jets of my spa recently started to suck in water rather than blow it out.  I took apart the filter and cleaned it thinking that was possibly the problem.  But it had no effect.  What could cause this to happen?

Answer
For just spa only it would be impossible for this to happen, actually have suction on 1 outlet, but with the sophistication of spa/pool combo and valve setup individual control it would be possible. However I cannot tell you the problem other than a valve malfunction.Lynn
