Question
QUESTION: Hope you can help me.
Every time the pool motor turns off back pressure from the sand filter blows the lid off the motor where the basket sits.I have changed the sand in the filter thinking that was the problem but still happening.
People in the local pool shop have no idea, almost every one i have asked can not help.
This problem started virtually overnight.

ANSWER: That lid turns and locks, when the filter is running suction from pump hold it down even without the lid.Their is no way that lid could come off the pump basket cover unless the screw on cap is stripped and not locked on.Lynn[ you said blows the lid off the 'motor'? [you do mean pump basket correct.]If that lid is screwed on no way can it come off, basket or lid threads are bad

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Lid is new and tight, also threads are fine. When new lid is put on pressure is looking for way out and actually cracks the top of lid.I can not keep replacing lids due to cost untill i fix problem. If i put a back pressure valve in line between motor and filter will this help.

Answer
First you said' BLOWS THE LID OFF MOTOR'whats that mean???The pool people have no idea,I asked 2 other pool repairmen,They don't believe it.The lids I've examined are a 1/4 of a inch thick so they cannot blow off for safety reasons. What kind off filter/pump is this, are we talking about a $1,000 play pool or a real pool. What kind of pump is this???It has to be a toy pool.
