Subject: spa pump priming
Question My in ground spa has stopped pumping water and I had the pool man replace the fittigs going into the pump and out of it but it won't prime. I HAVE PUT THE HOSE IN THE SKIMMER PIPE BUT NO HELP. wHEN I TURN THE PUMP ON I SEE THE SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER LEAVE THE PUMP'S FILTER HOUSING BUT NO NEW WATER COMES IN , i NEED YOUR HELP TO PRIME THE PUMP BEFORE I END UP SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY THAT I DON'T NEED TO. tHANKS DEAN
Answer The pump is lower than the skimmer so auto prime should happen unless a blockage is present.Their should be a air release in the system. If the motor is turning the pump AND impeller has to turn also.If you loosen the fitting coming out of the pump water should run freely without running the motor.Lynn
