Swimming Pool & Spa Construction & Maintenance - 2 problems: Hose collasping and White tissue mold.

Question
QUESTION: 1: when we are vacuuming with our easy vac (kreapy krauly),
the hoses between the skimmer and pump want to collapse. We
have split the difference from the center drain and the
skimmer to relieve the pressure, but it still happens. It is
very frustrating.

2. We have had a pool for over 35 years, but this year we
have something called white tissue mold.  I just invested
$190 in chemicals and still fighting it. Chlorine is high. I
got in it to vacuum, due to not being about to reach
everywhere. 28 ft round - cartridge filter and heat pump
heater. I don't have anymore money to spend to clear it up.

ANSWER: Is this an inground pool? Is it the Kreepy hose collapsing? Is this black poly pipe with a section of black vinyl braided hose? And are you using the spring operated vacuum valve in the skimmer or direct connect. Have you used a strong algaecide and a new filter? You need to answer these question may as well give me the filter name and type and if you can a picture of the collapsing pipe. Thank you

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: The pool is an above ground. Filter is new. It is the hose between the pool and pump (outside of the pool). No I am not using the valve, due to the vacuum doesn't work then.  Just a direct connect. I had the water tested and bought what the dealer recommended, Balance pack 100 I used 15.5 lbs. then Lo'n slo 2.25 lbs (no PH is low). 5 bags of Burn out extreme (I have put 9 in so far since Friday). 4 lbs of Spot Kill, and Algae Inhibitor 25 oz.  The pool is clear, and when I vacuum it gets cloudy, but clears up. I wash the filter cartridge out daily, due to the build up of the tissue stuff.  I do not have any black hose.  It is a Hayward filter, and the hose is the heavy gray. I have even put longer hoses on from 4 ft to 6 ft.

Answer
Most hoses on above ground pools are not very good and usually are clamped on to fittings. My recommendation is to remove the clamp on fitting from the skimmer and front of pump and replace with 1 1/2 glue in PVC fittings and glue in the correct length of PVC flex pipe. There are also Praher thread in PVC unions that can thread into the pump for easy removal. It is such an easy fix to collapsing hoses especially with a Kreepy that sucks against the liner. You will find if you use the flex pipe method the pump will prime and run better. All systems I plumb or pumps I change automatically get a thread in union on the pump in and out and shutoff valves on above grounds and never use barb fittings except for backwash. Remove the filter and get a second one and put in and soak the old in a cleaner chemical and every couple weeks alternate them but keep up the daily wash till the algae clears up. If you decide to use flex pipes msg me for exact instructions how to glue and install fittings.
