Swimming Pool & Spa Construction & Maintenance - Pool Filter Hose Assembly

Expert: roger - 6/23/2009

Question
I am replacing worn/cracking hoses between my pump and sand filter, and have new hoses and connectors.  The fit is so tight that I cannot get the rubber hose over the plastic connector.  I have used dish soap on both the hose & connector to make it slippery, but am still stuck.  Is there a trick?  Maybe hot water on the hose first?

Answer
I suggest replacing with glue in fittings but if you want the simple fix heat up the pipe with a heat gun or hair dryer. Glue in is the best let me know what you wish. Iam the genie but you must supply the bottle. Hope this helps but PVC flex glue pipe is better.
