Question We are considering installation of a pool in a home along the riverbank, where potential leakage from the pool could cause ground saturation and contribute to slope failures. I am wondering whether it is practical / possible to effectively install a double liner system that would contain water in the event of leakage of the main liner. What about a leak detection system such as a weeping tile to a dry well and sump pump? I am getting differing stories from local pool installation companies and want to protect my property.
Answer IF you are considering installing a pool where you say, yes you need drainage tiles or Big O around the pool footings and run to a containment tank with a sump pump and while building have them install an underdrain next to main drain. The underdrain is simply a pipe with holes buried in the gravel under the pool that can be connected to the pool pump suction line for water behind liner. No a double liner isn't even a thought make it vanish, double liner, double track, double problems save that track for lock in winter cover even if you planning a safety cover thing. Trust me after a short 7 years compared to the experts listen to the experts that agree with me as I have to listen to one every day like a dummy. Hope this helps your decision. YES you need some sort of drainage or you will end up with water behind liner in flood season.
