Swimming Pool & Spa Construction & Maintenance - Waterproofing Gunite Pool

Expert: Manish J.Joshi - 7/5/2009

Question
I was wondering how the gunite or cement is waterproofed for a pool. I know
that when I cemented my shower, I had to use a liner, since cement lets water
through. Is it the pepple-tech surface that waterproofs the whole thing, or is it
a special cement ?

Answer
Concrete or gunite itself is waterproof by itself if done But due to inefficiency in workmanship it leaks
Hence we have lot of waterproofing solutions like membrane, integral etc
In your case as the concrete is done membrane would be best or crystalline is other option if concrete is porous
Hence you can take call on either of the options which suits you economically
