Question QUESTION: We just bought a foreclosed house and a spa was included in the purchase. The spa is working, but the water is dirty. I called a pool/spa company about the problem, they told me it cost $195.00, to clean, purify the water , clean the inside and outside of the spa. Is there anything we can do ourselves w/out calling the spa company
ANSWER: Why not drain the water and scrub and clean the piping yourself?Lynn

QUESTION: How do we drain the water? Do we have to use a bucket to drain the water? or there's a drainage/opening in the spa itself?
Thanks a lot!
Answer Every spa I've seen has a drain,I use a towel to get the last bit of water squeezing it out until I get it all.I use dishsoap and clorox sometimes a little softscrub depending on the finish.Your owners manual will tell you where the drain is,if you don't have one order it offline. The drain will be at the bottom of spa with a cap on it,the end will be a hose connection which you can connect a hose to to drain further away.If you think the piping has algae and is very corroded I would double shock it,run it for a few days, drain it,if theirs allot of dead algae I would do it again. If it still has allot of dead algae a third time before you clean it.They make a commercial cleaner at your pool store you might want to use for the pipes.Lynn
