Experience
In order to properly assist you, it is very important that you provide the Model number of the television and the year it was manufactured. You can find this information on the back of the TV. Please also let me know if you are trying to fix the unit or just need to know the cost for repair. If you have a digital camera, and know how to solder and use a meter, I can help you fix your unit in most cases. BY THE WAY, THE PICTURE IS OF MY OLDEST DAUGHTER. I HAVE FOUR KIDS AND SHE IS THE OLDEST GIRL. SHE LIKES THIS PICTURE OF US SO I POSTED IT.

Question
I have a Sony wide screen projection TV KP-51WS510 2003 model year.  Just looking for info IE: is it worth repairing vs buying a new flat screen. Sometimes the picture is good sometimes it's not.  sometimes when it's bad if i wait it out or turn it off and then back on it is good again.  The picture when it's bad has ghosts. The ghosts are a green and/or red shadow on one side of the image or words on the screen. At it's worst it is near impossible to read anything on the screen. I tried adjusting the convergence but that does not appear to be the problem. My only other thought is the tube. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer
this does sound like the convergence circuit is going bad. over time it will get worse and you will need a repair. a cost will range around 400.00.
as far as a new tv.... i will tell you i work on more tv under 2 yeas of age than i do anything else. they have great pictures but do not last long at all.

Good luck :)
Let me know if you need more info or help?
