Subject: DVD/VCR won't work with Satellite receiver

Question
I have an Emerson model #EWD2202 DVD/VCR combo. We recently had DirectTV installed in our home and I can't get my system hooked back up. I've followed the directions in the DirectTV guide and still can't get the VCR/DVD player to work. Yesterday I called DirectTV and they suggested that I call the manufacturer. But, is there something I can try before I follow that last resort?

Thanks.

Answer
Cindy,

If I was trying to achieve this, I would try the following:
1- Connect DirecTv to my TV to make sure the receiver box as well as the connecting cable are OK.
2- I would connect the combo machine to the TV using a different cable
3- I would connect the DirecTv receiver to an AV input on the combo machine using the previously tested lead and DO NOT FORGET that you then have to use the AV button on the combo machine remote control to switch to the AV input that is connected to DirecTv
(they might call it AV or input or source or something else)

N George
