Question
I'm not sure this is your area of expertise but your qualifications look like the closest. I have a lot of old regular screen (4:3 ratio) DVDs and VHS tapes. What would they look like on screen on a wide-screen TV? Will the picture be cut and, if so, how?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Good question Larry,

I take it as you are buying a Widescreen TV
99% of TV will have widescreen setup menu where you choose from options such as:
16:9
4:3
Fill
Zoom
Auto
To keep the right ration, you will need to select the 4:3 which will generate 2 black bands at the sides of the screen but you can also then use the Zoom option to fill a bigger area with a tiny loss off the top and bottom line of the screen
If you have decided which TV you are buying, you can probably locate and read the manual online

Good luck

N George
