Question I have a 27" Magnavox model 27TS52 C202, 1996 tv..It was working fine one day and then the next it wouldn't come on. When I push the power (or the volume up/down, channel up/down) button, it just makes a clicking noise w/ a slight whistle and then another clicking noise and will not come on. Is it worth fixing?
Answer No. No set of this size and age is worthy of a repair.
This set is having a high voltage loss and requires the replacement of the flyback transformer and the horizontal output transistor. The cost of repair is almost a much as just buying a new set. OR, if you are strapped for cash go to the thrift store (GoodWill or Salvation Army) where you can buy a used equivalent of this one for under $30 that will probably be a better investment in the long run.
