Subject: Hitachi 43FDX01B Projection TV

Question
Had a power outage tv came on for a minute went off and now there is a clicking sound power button is lit but won't come back on? Any ideas worth fixing (7 yrs old)

Answer
Unplug the power cord for a full 4 hours to let it rest and reset.  When you plug it back in it may clear the problem.  I give it a 50% chance.

There are so very many possible causes of the condition you describe. The most common is corruption of the software inside the set and the above reset procedure will cure that.  The other potential problem areas include the power supply, the high voltage system, the convergence circuits and voltage regulators.

Hitachi makes a fine set but it is getting along in years. I think it would be worth a technician making some tests to determine what the specific repair will be, but if the cost is too high you may want to invest in the new technology.

Let me know if there is more discussion.
