Question QUESTION: Hi there, I bought this TV in Oct 05, I replaced the Lamp assembly due to it went out. Since I replaced the lamp, I have notice a green background, and now is getting more definite which the green is the dominant color, the white looks yellowish and I have reset the colors to the factory setting but nothing changes, the colors are looking funny. Once I turn the TV off you can see the Green back ground, until the screen turns off which then it is black, but once you turn it on, it starts with a dark green but once full warm you can see it more, did the blowing of the lamp damage the TV it blew up while the TV was on. I replace it with a Lamp from DLP Lamps. Thanks for any info:
Edgar
ANSWER: See pages 89 - 92 of the owners manual on how to service the LCD lamp assembly. The lamp must be the correct replacement (substitute units have been known to fail prematurely) and it must be installed very carefully and correctly.
As you have guessed from my comments above, the first suspicion is the lamp; either installed improperly or the lamp has gone prematurely defective. I don't think a DLP lamp will do the job correctly due to the geometry being different and the aging characteristics. As your model is an LCD projection set, you must use the lamp specified by Hitachi.
So, let's see if that will solve the problem.
If you have further problems and questions I would like to refer you to Alan Wainwright, another allexpert, who has broad experience with Hitachi projection sets.
Hope this helps,
C

QUESTION: The lamp I installed it correctly and took my time with it. This was installed in March, what does the lamp got to do with the colors of the TV, does it mean the Lam is burning to hot? I'll get a hold of a Tech to come to the house and have it checked, thank you for the quick response:
Edgar
Answer Thanks for the feedback.
There are many things that could cause the picture problems you described. The lamp was my first guess; the lamp filament, its exact location with respect to the LCD panel and other geometry considerations are of importance.
It could be the video drive board or LCD drivers are out of adjustment as well.
I am curious what they find with it. Could you let me know the outcome? Thanks.
