Question I have an RCA model hd50lpw42yx2 that started has started showing blue edge on the right side of the screen. I don't have any speakers that are close enough to pull the blue in that direction, besides does a magnetic pull effect dlp's?
Anyway, the blue extends from the top of the screen to the bottom and it is now 2" wide. I've replaced the lamp 2 last year, and the color wheel about 9 month's ago.
Thanks for you consideration on this.
Phil
Answer Tks, appreciate your further comments in the feedback/rating. Yes, RCA (owned by Thompson, a French company) has been doing much to upgrade their quality. Also, Costo has been careful to choose products they carry in their line to be of the best selections from the supplier. Let me know what you ended up doing; it helps me on the next question from an owner with similar products and symptoms.

I don't think a magnetic field will have any effect. You can check it by either rotating the TV or moving about any of the suspect magnetic field generators (such as speaker, subwoofer, motor, etc.).
The color distortion down the side could be an alignment problem and they are not the kind of adjustment you can do by yourself. You would need an authorized RCA service center who has the tools and test equipment to make the adjustments.
There are other malfunctions that could cause this as well; display drivers, voltage regulators that supply the drivers, power supply, etc.
As I think about more it seems to me the best thing to do is get an opinion from the RCA folks.
I went to the RCA technical support site at rca.com but did not find anything posted about this problem on your model.
RCA tvs have not been very reliable these past few years and seems you have already spent a good deal of time and $$$ keeping it going. Wish I could encourage you, but these new technology sets leave you at the mercy of the manufacturer.
Because of their newness and overall higher failure rate compared to conventional crt tv sets I recommend buyers get the extended service plan in order to have some protection when things fail.
Sorry you are having this much trouble with your set and hope this helps some in getting answers you need.
Let me know if I can help further. Let me know the reply you get back from RCA support people and I can help interpret what they are saying!
