Question
Model # PCL545R
Picture comes in, however the color is all wrong. The main colors are red and green. If there are subtitles they show up white....Bright white, with a white haze around the letters> I had a tech come look at it and he showed me the 3 bulbs. When I looked into them 1 was clean the other 2 looked as if they had mold or just plain dirty. Can I clean those myself? I am very good with the technical part of repairing electronics and I do know that there is the problem of lining up the three bulbs to have a perfect picture. Do you think this is the problem or do you have a different opinion?

Answer
Based on your description I would say that the cooling liquids have become contaminated and need to be cleaned up and replaced.

The lens over the front of the projection tubes require cooling to keep them from burning up and the cooling liquid can get aqueous germination that causes them to go cloudy and off color.  The fluid can be drained out the filter cleaned and new liquid put in.  But, you should have a shop do it as it is necessary for it to be done by and experienced technician.

I would not do this yourself unless you have experience and have done this before.  If you decide to go ahead, get the right coolant from Samsung or that which they recommend in order to assure long life of the set.

Good Luck,
c
