Subject: TV stuck on "video" mode!

Question
Please help me! My tv is stuck on video mode with the blue screen and everything! my universal remote is only giving me the option to change the volume or the language in the menu! It is a sanyo DS31590

Answer
It is a nice analog set and was not too expensive when new.  Sanyo is a very reliable product as well.

To your question.

ONE: Could be the tv at fault. Inside are several memory chips that hold the programs for the various features and functions.  They can be corrupted; a hard reset will usually clear that up.  To do a hard reset merely unplug the power cord for a full 3 or 4 hours. Then power it up again and go through the setup procedures.

TWO:  If the hard reset does not cure it you may have a defective remote. It is possible the batteries are weak and need to be changed.  Try the remote right up close into the eye of the IR receiver on the front of the tv and see if it improves.  Change the batteries.  Go to Dollar Tree and get  one of their $1.00 remotes; it will work on your Sanyo set as I have done it for this model.

Let me know if there is more to do.
