Subject: VCR Output Channel

Question
As a fellow 'expert' (I do 'dramatic movies' and 'DVD'), I know how busy this can keep you, so please, get back to me whenever you can.

Right, I own a Sony SLV-SE840G vcr and a Sony KV-28FQ86B TV. Now, recently, my local cable provider has changed the frequency of a couple of channels. I retuned my TV no problem, and was attempting to do my video when I somehow managed to change the VCR Output Channel (I know, great move). Now, I'm almost 90% sure I changed it to 30. After reading the manual, it seemed that all I needed to do was retune my TV so it and the VCR were using the same output channel. However, I went through the entire range of channels (all the S channels and all the C channels), and nothing - no vcr picture either for watching a channel or for playing a VHS. I can't even get into the menus because I can't get a picture. I've tried auto install on both my TV and VCR, but neither did the trick. The other thing is that my VCR is connected directly to my Sky DigiBox, which is in turn connected to my TV. Don't know if this has anything to do with it.

I'm reasonably good with technology, but this has me stumped. Basically, I have no VCR. Help!!!

Answer
Not sure I understand the question.

A vcr, when playing back a tape, outputs it to a video signal, not a tv channel.  You then switch the tv over to the appropriate video input selection to pick up the video signal coming from the vcr.

It seems to be a UK model and maybe you are connecting through scart cable; but same story holds true.   You should be able to get the video by switching to the right video input.

Let me know if I am missing something....
