Subject: 43p8341-No Picture or sound

Question
I have one of the trouble T.Vs and when i push the power button the light stays on and the screen and sound stay off, then when i press the button for the TV to turn off the picture comes on for about 3 seconds then the picture and red light both turn off

I would really appreciate it if you could help
Thanks

Answer
This is a troublesome set.  Lots of owners have the same or similar problems.

The power supply needs service. Either a board repair or replacement is in order.  Cost will run over $200, sorry to say.

If the set is over a couple of years old you should think carefully about its repair.  But, call a few repair shops and get their opinion.  They may be more optimistic than I. But, as a rule, Magnavox/Philips are not the most reliable around, sadly.

PS: Try a hard reset and see what you get; merely unplug the power cord for a full 4 hours. Then try it again.
