Subject: Brand New TV out the box won't power up

Question
I have  Panasonic Plasma 50 inch TV brand new right out of the box.  connected the power and the tv wont power up there is a blinking red light that keeps blinking but i get no power or picture to the TV.  This is a new TV right out of the box. Can you help me determine what could be the problem?

Answer
It is likely a power supply failure, but it can be any of a host of problems.  Anything that triggers the protection circuit can be the cause.  But, power supply failures are high on the list.

The retailer or the manufacturer should get it repaired or replaced right away since it would be under warranty.

Contact your retailer first and Panasonic next.  It is the responsibility of the manufacturer under their product warranty to get it taken care of.

Panasonic plasma sets have a good reliability record.  Sorry you got one of the stinkers.

Hope this helps.
