Subject: Convergenance Problem

Question
I have a 2 year old Sony TV model KDF-E50A10.  I have a 4 inch green band at the bottom of the screen and a 1 inch red one at the top.  It looks like a convergenace problem.  Is this an easy fix or a more serious problem?

Answer
Well, this is an LCD rear projection set and it has an entirely different convergence system than conventional RPTV.

The poblem is more likely with the bulb mounting or the video engine.

ONE: I suggest you make sure the bulb/lamp is properly installed and working correctly.  It may need replacing. Please refer to your manual about replacing and installing the lamp on page 86-87.

TWO: Some Sony units have had design problems with the video engine. If it is defective the replacement is very expensive. I suggest you contact with Sony technical and see if they will cover this under their extended warranty for those units having bad engines.  Tell them Cleggsan sent you there.

Hope this helps.
