Subject: HP LC2600N(made in 2005) power problem

Question
My LCD TV tries to power on automatically when power is applied...then immediately powers off...it tries one more time...then the OPC LED keeps blinking red. After this process is over....the TV does not respond to the remote trying to power it on. Once in a while the TV will power on when power is applied to it. The weird part is as soon as it powers on I can turn it off and on as many times I like with the remote...with no problems...until power is disconnected.  What board do you think is faulty?  I have taken a look at the boards apparently most of them are the same as the Sharp LC-26GA5U...a few of the boards I couldn't get a good look at.  Where is a good place to get replacement parts...I would like to fix this myself?

Answer
It will probably require some voltage measurements or waveform checks to determine where the problem is.  It could be in the power management circuit  - which is interconnected with the remote IR receiver system in the tv.  It could also be a power supply problem - such as a voltage regulator or overload protection detector.

So, there are a few possibilities that should be examined. I doubt that an entire board needs replaced - which is very expensive.  If you have a service manual and VOM you might be able to chase down the problem by checking the key power supply voltages and watch what happens to the power supply voltages when the set cycles through the ON and OFF business.

Some parts are available at www.partstore.com and other such places you can find with google.  Also, HP should be able to supply parts; check their web pages.  Sharp parts are more readilly available.
