Question
Hi,

Have a picture issue with my JVC.  Distortion at top and in the center.  I notice what sounds like an extra "click" or "pop" before the screen powers on when I turn it on now.  See my attached pics and thanks in advance.

Answer
It is not typical, but looks like a failure of the convergence circuitry.  Let's give it an 85% probability that is so.

Repair will cost upwards of $400.  Some shops will do it for less. It requires replacing two ICs and sometimes a burnt resistor.

JVC has good technology and make a great product. If the set is less than 5 or 6 years of age it is well worth getting the repair done.

Any questions? Let me know.
