Subject: Magnavox problems powering on

Question
I recently purchased a used Magnavox 27ms3404/17.  however in order to get a steady picture I must power the TV on and off multiple times (10+).  Each time I cycle the power the picture usually lasts a little longer than the time before.

Answer
Take it back immediately before it goes out of warranty. It should not do that; something is wrong internally.

If you can exchange it, get another brand as Magnavox/Philips are not so good for reliability.

Others are having the same problem.  The trend seems to be that many of this model suffer from a defective horizontal output circuit (which circuit also powers the high voltage - so when the horizontal quits working the HV does too).

It could also be the main power supply.

These repairs are quite expensive for a 27 incher, so please get back to the manufacturers warranty or retail dealer and use the return policy or set warranty on this.
