Subject: Philips 32PW8806/79R red led flashes, can not turn On

Question
I have got Philips CRT tube, wide screen TV. Model: 32PW8806/79R. About 6 years old. TV operates normal when ON, but once you turn off TV, and then try to turn back ON it takes between 1 to couple of minutes to start back on. 3rd LED on the left when you look TV from the front, is usually green, when is on. When is off, LED is red. But when i try to turn ON TV, that LED flashes (red) until TV is back on. Lately it does not start at all... just blinking (red) LED. Can hear the clicking noise form relays, it happens 3 times. And those relays get very hot after couple of minutes. Any suggestions. Thankx

Answer
Power supply problem. I predict it is a gassy electrolytic capacitor in the ripple filter, but could be a voltage regulator circuit as well. It will require some voltage tests to determine which is the guilty component.

Cost of repair is around $100 if you lug it to a shop; much more if the service is done in the home.

Hope this helps.
