Subject: RCA P52937 Projection TV

Question
My 2002 RCA Projection TV Model P52937 began going off and on.  You could turn it back on and it seemed after it warmed up it would play OK.  Now it will not come on at all and I hear a sound like a cricket.  Can you help me.  Thanks

Answer
Here is the problem:

ONE:  It is an RCA.  They are notoriously bad for reliability.
TWO:  The protection circuit has been activated. It is usually a very expensive repair. Let's say 80% of the time, anyway.
THREE:  It is usually caused by a defect in the main power supply, but, can also be caused by bad components in just about any place in the set.  This set has over 3,000 electrical components!  So, testing must be done to determine for sure what is wrong.
FOUR:  The cost of repair will be $200 or more; probably more.

HOWEVER: Sometimes, that is around 10% of the time, it will resolve with a hard reset. You can do this by unplugging the power cord for a full 3 or 4 hours, then powering it up again.  Worth a try, but don't get your hopes too high.

Hope this helps.
