Question
Sony KV-32S42 TV wont stop searching channelsposted by indirect17 on Sep 05, 2008Report abuse

When i turn it on all it does is search through the channels and show snow... keeps scanning though channels non-stop. Can't even get it to stop on 3 or 4 to use VCR or anything, power button works, no other buttons affect it.

Answer
Try this.  It should bring it back to life, but if it does not, let me know - or call a tech to give you more instructions on what to do.

HARD RESET: Unplug the power cord for a full 3 or 4 hours.  Then, plug it back in and try it again.  This process will cure it IF the problem was caused by a software corruption.  If it turns out to be a hardware problem (such as a bad controller IC) then it will need to be repaired.

Also, you should always try the banging and whacking procedure; merely smack the set all around the cabinet with your hand or fist.  Doing so will often reactivate a bad connection or cold solder joint inside the tv.

Hope this helps get it back on the road.
