Subject: TV audio no longer functions

Question
I have a fairly old, inexpensive 20-inch RCA TV that took a tumble recently when our 10 year-old son was wrestling with some friends in the room. Now there's no audio. Picture is great, and all other functions work fine. I've tried all the obvious stuff (make sure mute off, etc.), but all I can assume is a wire must have come loose inside the set when it fell 3 feet to the floor recently. Is this an easy fix, or do I just need to buy a new TV?

Answer
You did not give a model so I can't look up anything technical.

However:

ONE:  This is, as you point out, an inexpensive set.
TWO:  It is not worthy of any expensive repair.
THREE: It could be something simple, such as a broken wire going to the speaker or a bad speaker which would not be hard to find out by removing the cover.  Radio Shack has many speakers of the size that might fit right into this unit if it turns out to be a bad speaker.
FOUR:  If your set has an audio or headphone output you can buy a PC powered speaker and just plug it into the tv and see if that works. They are about $15 and up at most computer stores or Walmart type places. (And will sound better than the original by far!)

So, there are your options to look at.  Hope this leads you to the right solution.
