Question
I have a 1994 35" Mitsubishi television was working fine turn off this morning when I turned it on this evening had soud no picture, then got a really bad electrical smell then no sound either. I s this worth fixing it is incased in Oak and the vcr and dvd are under neith the tv.

Answer
Please write a letter to the manufacturer thanking them for making a fine set!

It is now 10 years old and you have got all there is to get out of it.  It has served you well and is now tired and wants to join its old friends in the heap.  It is not a good investment to repair a set this old.  Why?  Because parts are not readily availiable - maybe not at all.  And, another breakdown is just around the corner for sure.

It is likely a power supply, either the main, the high voltage or some voltage regulator that has failed.  Such repairs are always around $200 to $400.

Wish there was better news than this death warrant, but you made a fine investment; lasting all this long time.  So, consider it a good deal!

Let me know if there is more.
