Subject: Tv won't come on.

Question
I have a 57 inch Sony model#kp57ws520 it was hooked up to direct TV dvr
but some how the direct dvr box will come on but the tv won't i've unplugged
the tv from the direct tv,disabled the direct tv remote from turning on the tv
and  it's been unplugged for 3 days, every time i hit the power button on the
tv the remote control the red light blinks 9 times continues until i unplug it.
Please Help NFL sunday ticket is this weekend.

Dennis

Answer
Nine blinks has to do with a failure of the power supply.  Probably the main power supply board needs repaired or replaced.

In this model the cost for repair is likely to run around $400 to $450.

How old is this set? If still under warranty then Sony will cover it.  If just out of warranty and you call Sony sternly they may still cover you on it. If over 2 or 3 years of age you will have to repair it on your own ticket.  If over 5 years of age you may want to think whether to repair or not.

Let me know if there is more to the story.
