Subject: connecting a dvd/vcr combo

Question
I got the Toshiba D-VR610KU dvd video recorder/videocassette recorder.  I thought I had it connected right, but the vcr doesn't work.  I was connecitng it to a sharp LCD tv.  Can you help?  thanks

Answer
http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/tacpassets-images/models/d-vr610/docs/d-vr610_spec.pdf

The URL above gives a diagram of the connections on the back side of the combo player.  For playback only, connect the far right red, white and yellow outputs to an a/v input on the back of your tv matching color for color  (yellow is for video, red is right channel audio and white is left channel audio).

For recording on to vhs you must have the same, but outputs coming from your tv (not all tvs have such outputs) connected to the inputs (side by side of the outputs mentioned above).

Now, see if it will work when the cabling is properly connected.

If you are still having trouble, let me know and give me the model number for the tv so I can find out its capabilities.
