i have a proscan tv and im trying to hook a dvd player to it. i do not have a remote controle for the tv. do i need one to change it to the vidio mode?

Answer
Yes. You can purchase a remote that will operate it for $1.00 to $10. Just make certain the remote has a video changing button on it.

The $1.00 remote is sold at Dollar Tree. Sometimes they have them in stock, sometimes not.
