Question
MY Plasma tv exploded ( it sparked & popped) Now the display does not work but the reciever does turn on & off. Is my TV dead?

Answer
Better call Pioneer right away and speak with their technical folks.  See if the don't have an extended or special service for this model if it is past the factory warranty period.

The "explosion" sounds expensive.  Very expensive.  But, with luck it could be only a power supply; even a gassy cap that can be replaced for under $100 or so.

But, I think you will need to have it checked over by a good tech who can analyze the problem up close and hands on.

In the worst case it is the driver assembly on the plasma drive which requires replacement of the entire drive system - very, very expensive.

In the best case, just a popped cap in the power supply.

Best wishes and let me know the outcome.
