Question I have a squiggly line about 3 mm thick and about halfway down the right hand of the screen which fades depending on the colour coming up on the screen, can u please tell me what this could be?
thanks Joanne
Answer Jo-Anne,
Unfortunately none of the 3 Computer Companies that also make TV's, Dell, Gateway and Acer, provide access to parts or service literature. If the line is a specific color, you could have one of several problems. The first thing to do is determine if this is isolated or throughout. Check to see if the line is there with all sources, such as normal TV viewing, DVD, video game, etc., in other words every input to the set that you use. Also, is the line present in OSD and Menu?
The first and easiest to check would be to check for an interference caused problem. Think about when your line first started. Did you make any changes by adding any electronic or electrical equipment to your house? Do you have any new florescent lamps near the set (even the low power florescent bulbs would count). If so, try turning them off or unplugging any new or recently moved devices.
If that was not the case, you will have to go inside the set. Another possibility is a loose connection of the LVDS cable. Try to just reseat it. If that doesn't work you would have a defective T-Con board or even a defective LCD Display Panel. Without access to service literature I cannot tell you how to isolate the defective component.
I hope this helps you some.
regards,
Rick
