TV/VCR/Stereo Troubleshooting - Samsung HT-DM150

Expert: Rick Montgomery - 11/4/2009

Question
I recently purchased a 26" Dynex HD flat panel TV.  I have hooked up a VCR and DVD player directly to the TV.  The colour when playing VHS videos is fine.  The colour on the TV is fine.  The colour when playing a DVD has a blue tint almost like a film was placed on the screen.  I have unplugged the power, removed the batteries from the remote yet still have the blue film on every movie. Suggestions?

Answer
Kim,
The model number you provided is not for a Dynex TV, but for a Samsung Home Theater System.
The fact that TV and VCR play normal, hints to the stronger possibility that your HTS is the defective component. You need to confirm this by hooking the HTS to a different TV, using the same HOOKUP AND CABLES, and seeing if the blue tint is still there. If it is not, then the problem is in your Dynex. If you just recently bought it, take it back immediately for in-warranty replacement. Dynex is the low-end (cheaper) house brand of Best Buy, and there is no support for them. There are no replacement parts or tech support available.
If the problem is in your Samsung HTS, I will need the serial number to determine the version, and it will involve either a software upgrade, EEPROM upgrade, or a DVD/digital processor board replacement.
regards,
Rick
