Question The volume on my TV when I place it on video makes a piercing noise. What is the problem and is it worth fixing?
Answer Is the sound coming out of the speakers or is it inside the tv set? Please check it carefully as it makes a big difference in the diagnosis for each condition.
And, does the sound work normally when in tv mode?
Does the sound come even if nothing is connected to the video input? If not, what do you have connected to the input?
If you could clarify it will help with the diagnosis.
