Question standby lite on front of unit flashes 4 times and then repeats. TV does not turn on. This is a Sony TV model KV-27S42. it is approx 7 years old. TV was not moved or bumped when this started happening. thanks for any help you might be able to provide./
Answer Robert,
The 4 blink error code refers to a loss of vertical deflection. The failure could have been preceded by the picture pulling in from top to bottom, or by going to a thin line across the screen. Start by carefully resoldering the vertical deflection IC. If that doesn't do it, replace the vertical IC. The reference number is IC541. The part number is TDA8172.
regards,
Rick
