TV/VCR/Stereo Troubleshooting - sony grand wega

Expert: cleggsan - 11/4/2009

Question
My sony tv model kdf42e2000 is getting a pink line across the top and a light blue line across the bottom. They are both about 4 inches in height. I tried contacting sony but they couldn't give me any answers. The tv is only 2 years old. Got it brand new out of the box and has been great so far. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Answer
This could be due to a weal projection lamp.  Have you replaced the lamp yet?  If you replace it make sure you obtain the Sony exact replacement part.

The lamp and its housing are about $200 plus or minus.

You might try reinstalling the lamp that is now in the tv; sometimes due to heat and temperature change they will change their position and cause a distortion of the screen image.

If not the lamp, there are few customer serviceable parts in LCD tvs, so better have it looked at by a Sony approved tech.
