Expert: Rick Montgomery - 11/6/2009
Question Hi
I have a 40 inch lcd Sanyo tv.
The tv had a faultly power circit when it was returned from the company who where fixinging the fuse had blown in the plug (5 amp fuse), the repair man then took the fuse from my ps3 (10 amp) and put in in the TV and left.
I switched tv on several hours later when I returned from work and aster about 5 mins the TV went completly dead.
When i realised the problem, I tried a 5 amp fuse in the TV and still nothing.
The repair company are not admiting any fault, are they correct?
thanks
Liam
Answer Liam,
I would like to help you, but as my profile reflects, I only have access to models sold here in the United States, and although Sanyo is an international company, they sell different models in different parts of the world. I would have to begin by looking in the service manual for your model and see what size fuse is called for. But as I said, even without you having supplied the model number, I am sure it is not supported by Sanyo-USA.
Having said that, I feel it is highly unlikely that a low power device such as your PS-3 would have anything even close to a 10 amp fuse in it. At the most, I would think 1 amp. If your TV blew a 5 amp fuse (which sounds like a normal size), you would definitely smell something burned before a 10 amp fuse would blow.
If the Service Center installed a wrong value of fuse, there is no doubt that they were negligent. Unless they offered no warranty at all on their work, I would call them back immediately and make them act responsible for what they charged you for.
regards,
Rick
