About Henry A. McKelvey Expertise I have worked in the Electronics field for 25 years, and have been a Telecommunications Expert for 20 years. My Expertise has been in: Video, Audio, RF, Television, and Stereo. I have been in the Television repair business for 25 years and have repaired over 20,000 Televisions in that time. I was a manager of an Information Technology Training Team at The Verizon Advanced Services Group Center, and a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Verizon Laboratories. I am now working full time in the TV repair industry until I can find another full time job, I know what your question is: "why don't you just work full time in the TV repair industry permanently?" Well the answer to that is simple, due to the complexity and the DIY craze, TV repair work is at best a good way to make extra money, not to rely on it for your livelihood. A sad truth, but a truth nonetheless.

Question I have a 2006 42" Samsung Plasma (HPS4253X/XAA) and over the past few months a blue haze would show up in the upper left and right corners of the screen. On both sides, it would be about an inch away from the edge of the screen and bleed down towards the center and bottom of the TV. The picture becomes very pixilated with colorful snow as well.
All of this happens once the TV has been on for about 30-40 min. Sometimes it can be on for a few hours before it starts.
I love the TV and would love to get it repaired as it is still a nice TV. Any help would be appreciated.
Answer Hello Ken,
These are actually two different problems the first is the blue haze this is a ballast and inverter problem, or the plasma igniter. While the pixilated with colorful snow could be a problem in the ATSC tuner, the video stream buffer or one of the buffers of the video processor. If I may suggest, I would have this TV examined by a qualified TV technician.
