My Expertise has been in: Video, Audio, RF, Television, and Stereo. I have been in the Television repair business for 25 years and have repaired over 20,000 Televisions in that time. I was a manager of an Information Technology Training Team at The Verizon Advanced Services Group Center, and a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Verizon Laboratories. I am now working full time in the TV repair industry until I can find another full time job, I know what your question is: "why don't you just work full time in the TV repair industry permanently?" Well the answer to that is simple, due to the complexity and the DIY craze, TV repair work is at best a good way to make extra money, not to rely on it for your livelihood. A sad truth, but a truth nonetheless.

Question I have an RCA television, service #F225CF0UH, Model 32V55OT manufactured in 2005. The picture is white with horizonal lines running through it, you can make out the shadows of what is going on on the screen but not well. The sound on the set is perfect as usual. I have checked all connections, etc., but nothing seems to change.
Any suggestions would be welcome!

Answer Hello Di,
You have a video drive problem and a retrace problem which in a way is to be expected. Let me explain; If the video signal is too low the blanking pulses would also be low in amplitude. This means that an experienced TV technician should examine and repair this TV. The technician will have to check the incoming signal and the video signal at the video processor input and output. I believe the problem will reside in this area.
Remember: a TV technician uses specialized tools and has trained in specialized skills to be able to repair TVs, so while some people attempt to repair things themselves, it should be noted that TVs are dangerous and should only be repaired by those will the specialized training and tools to do the job properly.
