Question
i just took a magnavox 20MT133S out of the box brand new that was in storage for a year or more and tried to turn it on.... comes on and then after 3-5 seconds, shuts off... tried about 20 times... same thing over & over... help!... & thanks, harry...

Answer
It is not good for consumer electronics products to remain in storage for long periods of time. This is due to the fact they have temperature and age sensitive materials that are better when used occasionally.

There are many things that can cause the set to shut down. Most likely - say 80% - is the power supply.  The electrolytics in the power supply have probably gone bad.  The electrolyte in them has become depolarized and caused a short in the power supply, perhaps.

Sorry for the bad news.  And, to make it worse the cost of repair might be as much as the set cost when it was new!
