Question
Hi, I have a sony kp46c65 color rear video projector manufactured Aug 1998.  Couple days ago I was cleaning the front screen with a cleaning agent and turned out it was too strong and discolored parts of it, now the picture is not good on those spots. How can I fix that or Where can I purchase another screen?

Answer
What chemical did you use?  I don't know of a household cleaning agent that will discolor it; but some will dissolve the material and cause it to go cloudy or foggy.

Have you tried cleaning it again with other less strong agents?

It is highly unlikely that Sony maintains parts for a set so old.  Usually they will keep parts in stock for only 7 or 8 years.  You could try Sony and see if they still have them or some model that would be equivalent.

Others who have had to replace the lens have found them on eBay. You may have to find one and ship it to your place so the lens can be removed and used to replace the one in your set.  It will not be terribly expensive, but probably too costly for a set of this age.

Lastly, you could google around for this part at places like www.partstore.com and see if they may have one in stock. I think it would be listed as the lenticular lens and the cost would be $200 plus or minus.

Hope this helps.

PS: There are some who have found lenticular materials and cut it down to size to fit their tv.  This can be done if you can find a supply of a sheet large enough and know how to cut it to fit in your tv.  Blank lenticular material of sufficient size may be over $200.
