Sounds like you are talking about local service providers i.e. DirecTv and similar that I am not familiar with.
Technically, LNB comes in different bands (Ku and C) and different models within the same band (for example in Ku we can have a universal LNB, 10.7 LNB, 11.3 LNB,..... and this stands for the Local Oscillator of the LNB)
