Question
I have an Emerson VCR/DVD combo unit.  I am having a problem with the VCR - when I play back a recent taping, the picture rolls horizontally.  I've tried a VCR head cleaner and new tapes but I still get the rolling picture.

Is there anything else I can do?

Make sure you have set the head alignment properly.  There should be a tracking adjustment (some are automatic with manual override and some are only manual) that should adjust for this in most sets.

If you still have picture roll, try adjusting your tv.  Try it on another tv set; if it is good on one set and not another; you may have a tv in trouble!  

If you suspect the tv is not locking up with the vcr signal (might be just fine when viewing regular tv) then you will need to go into the service mode and make a fine adjustment to the horizontal synchronization control.
