Question Could you explain what the contrast ratio in a LCD TV means. I see 1000:1, 1600:1, and up, just what does it mean.
Answer In easy terms, it is how dark the black is.
Imagine watching a projector (TV or even a presentation) in a bright room and the darker colours are fade and not dark.
In other words, the higher the contrast the better the screen is, 10000:1 is all over the market, I would not suggest you go anyway near 1000:1 or even 3000:1 instead, go for 5000:1 or higher.
The other factor to consider when buying a Tv panel (Plasma or LCD) is the resolution and again the higher the better, nowadays do not get anything less than 1024x768 especially that 1366 is all over the market and other models go higher again, do not consider a 600, 700 or 800 in resolution.
